One of the most difficult topics to address is forgiveness because we all have encountered situations where people have wronged us. Often, it is hard to forgive those individuals for the emotional pain and hurt we endured as a result of their words or actions. When building a closer relationship with God we learn and understand the importance of true forgiveness from the heart. Think about it this way as human beings who sin God forgives us all the time, so it is imperative that we learn to forgive others. The Bible states, “For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.” Matthew 6:14-15 NIV
Learning to live according to God’s word in the Bible is key to start the process of forgiveness from the heart. Whether you are a believer of Jesus Christ or not a believer at all forgiving others is essential to moving forward in life and to heal emotionally. It is known that when you hold unforgiveness against another person you will stagnant your own blessings. Sometimes prayers will go unanswered because of having anger, bitterness, resentment and unforgiveness in your heart. Releasing those thoughts and feelings from your mind will help you to start to walk in your journey of true forgiveness.
Walking and living in true forgiveness is where you can see those who have inflicted hurt and pain on you and not have any feelings of anger towards them. It does not bother you to come in contact with these individuals and even speak to them. God wants us to love our enemies even when they have done us wrong because He loves us when we have fallen short because of sin in our lives. “Buy God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 NIV
We must have love in our hearts in order to demonstrate true forgiveness from the heart. When love lives in the heart then forgiveness can take place where a person can be truly be released from their emotional pain from the past. Always live and walk in love so you are easily able to extend forgiveness to people. Life will be more peaceful because you have decided to walk in the love of Christ showing love towards people and living in true forgiveness from the heart.
